ANNA CAVE

The Anna sphagnum cave in Lillafüred, which belongs to the Büllköy National Park and is also a significant and unique sight in European terms, is a unique sight. The cave is special in that it was not formed in the usual hard, marine limestone, but in sphagnum. Limestone transported by the Szinva stream over a thousand years ago formed special limestone stucco shapes, and also carved lace onto plants. The Anna Cave was formed in young freshwater limestone, so visitors can admire the delicate and finely carved decorative features of the thermal caves here.

The caves were not dissolved or carved into the surrounding rock by the water afterwards, but were formed at the same time. The ceilings of the zigzag rooms are covered with lime. A fine fringe of seaweed and moss threads, petrified under a hanging tube. In places, hundreds of thousands of tiny moss balls line up next to each other, while petrified leaves, blades of grass, tree branches or their imprints preserve the memory of the flora of the past millennia. Most of the smaller caves were formed on the site of huge tree trunks that were once buried in the rock after they rotted.

The cave is located at the bottom of the Hanging Gardens of the Palace. It opens from the terrace, next to the waterfall.



Guided tours depart every day, at all hours, as follows:


During the summer period (April 1st - September 30th) daily from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. to 16.00.

In October (October 1 - October 31) daily from 10:00 to 15:00.

In the winter period (November 1 - March 31) one guaranteed tour per day at 12:00, closed at other times.


Minimum number of people for the tour to start: 4 people. Exception: for the tour starting at 12:00 Guaranteed to last, this year every day starts independently of your account.

Tickets price:

Full price ticket: 1200 HUF/person
Concessional ticket (pensioners and children): 800 HUF/person
Concessional kindergarten ticket: 300 HUF/person
Group adult ticket: 1000 HUF/person
Concessional group ticket: 600 HUF/person
In the case of groups of 20 or more people, a discount is available. For the discount, advance registration is required at (46) 334-130.

In the case of general school student groups, admission is free for 1 accompanying adult for every 10th person. A discounted adult group ticket can be purchased for the additional accompanying person.

Caving is free for Miskolc Pass tourist card holders.
Holders of the Miskolc Pass discount card can visit the cave with a 15% discount.
