Avas Arboretum

The arboretum was established on the initiative of Dr. Imre Adorján, Chief Physician, and currently covers an area of ​​6 ha. Of this, 4.5 ha mainly contains deciduous trees, with a smaller area of ​​about 0.5 ha, mainly consisting of pine trees. The aim of the arboretum and collection garden was to enable those interested to get to know, study and admire not only domestic pines but also pines native to other regions and distant lands, and thereby increase their botanical knowledge, general culture and education, and develop a love of nature and respect for their environment. appreciation and protection.

The arboretum also helps garden owners, who, when planning their garden, can preview the species and varieties of the right size, shape, and color to help them make their decision when selecting the trees (pines) to be planted. In view of this, the development of garden forms was a central issue at the beginning of the settlement. This and the systematic approach followed during the settlement give the collection its character.

The plants originating from other continents, the interest and diversity of the associations, They make up the arboretum's plant material, and at the same time provide experience on their domestic development, establishment, and appearance. The introduction and dissemination of species, varieties, and forms directly affects the development of garden culture and, when spread, makes it more beautiful and cultured. makes the city and our environment.

The Arboretum is open from April 15th to November 15th. Daily opening hours: Monday-Saturday 10am-2pm. Admission is free. Visits are canceled in rainy weather!
