Avas Reformed Church

Above the inner city of Miskolc, on the side of Avas Mountain, the parish church named after Saint Stephen already stood in the 14th century, which was expanded in 1411. Only parts of this building remain - such as the stump of the western tower - because around 1480 the church underwent extensive reconstruction.

The new building became a three-nave, ribbed-vaulted hall church, the same width as the nave, closed by the twelve-sided side. with a round sanctuary, windows of various sizes, chapels on the north side and more rich, Gothic details.

In the church, memorial tablets preserve the memory of the great reformer, Dévai Bíró; Mátyás and Palóczy László. The oldest cemetery in the city, the Avas Monument Cemetery, is located around the building.
