THE KRIST&Aucute;LY IMPERIAL HOTEL**** is the “OLDEST OPERATING HOTEL IN THE COUNTRY”
The Krist´ly Imperial Hotel**** was built between 1766-1769 by the Esterh´zy family based on the plans of Jakab Fellner. Initially called Szarka Fogad´, then Esterh´zy Sz´lloda, the resting place was one of the inns on the Vienna-Budapest route. Its first known literary mention is linked to Ferenc Kazinczy, who suffered a carriage accident in 1803 while travelling from Buda to Vienna, and was forced to spend eight days in the inn. “Memory of my journey” He mentions the incident in his work entitled.
Several famous people paid their respects at the hotel over the years, such as: Blanka Teleky, Lujza Blaha, Mór Jókai, Károly Kisfaludy, Mihály Vórsmarty, Mór Percel, Árpád Feszty, Archduke Ferencz Ferdinand, Jenő Heltai, Pál Jóvor, Gyula Csortos, Margit Dajka, Gyula Kabos and Otto Habsburg. During the Hungarian Revolution and War of Independence of 1848-1849, General Artúr Górgey set out from his headquarters in the inn on May 3, 1849, to the siege of Buda.
The inn has experienced ups and downs, but it has always been a popular venue for the local community, hosting Tata balls, color performances, and union meetings. party meetings as well.
At the end of January 2007, the rooms in the two listed wings were renovated with unique interior design. The Esterházy wing on the main street is located in the basement. With the installation of wooden guides and the expansion of the original baroque arches, the guest space continued to grow, creating an authentic environment for the very popular wine shows.
On August 30, 2013, we opened our hotel in the attic above the Esterházy wing for our old and new business partners. The new, 225-square-meter Magnólia Room. The room combines the original elements of the nearly 250-year-old building with the most modern style in an unusual way, in keeping with the elegance, uniqueness, and exclusivity that characterize the entire hotel.
At the end of 2013, the hotel's Medical Wellness Center was built, connecting to the listed building. The development aimed at the development of medical and preventive services.
We are proud that the Kristály Imperial Hotel**** is the oldest hotel in the country, still in operation today, more than 240 years old, which still stands in its splendor in the heart of the city, as a listed building complex!
