Herold Cellar

Herold Cellar is the youngest winery in the wine region, our story began in 2009 with the purchase of a 0.5 hectare 40-year-old Italian Riesling vineyard in Széldomb, Pannonnhalma. It was something to see and love... Although I was able to participate in the winemaking process as a child, my family and I chose to enter the business as "greenfields" due to family initiatives, with the help of competitors and the renowned wineries of the wine region. In 2011, we planted 4 hectares of Italian Riesling, Chardonnay, Traminer and Merlot grapes and, for the first time in the wine region, the fragrant Yellow Muscat - on an area of ​​0.5 hectares. This was followed in the spring of 2014 by a new 7-hectare plantation with 2.5 ha of Rhine Riesling, 1.5 ha of Irsai Olive, 1 ha of Savignon Blanc, 1 ha of Chardonnay, 0.5 ha of Blue Franc and 0.5 ha of Cabernet Franc grape varieties, which we completed in the spring of 2015 with 0.5 ha of Irsai Olive grapes planted in place of the 40-year-old, and unfortunately neglected, Italian Riesling for several years. Our plans include increasing our area by a few hectares in the next few years, but our main goal is to produce and offer exclusively quality wines in our now-completed cellar.
