István Báthori Museum

The permanent exhibition entitled "Centuries of Nyírbátor" presents the history of the city from the Middle Ages to the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. You can find here the city's owners. In addition to the exquisite household and decorative objects of the families, there are also everyday tools of peasant and bourgeois life.



Among its treasures, the most notable are:

* the 1511-dating stallum
* the National Museum's pair
* the Renaissance dragon coat of arms of the Báthory family, dated 1484
* the decorative sword of the Transylvanian prince Gábor Bethlen, made in 1622.

The museum creates opportunities for the presentation of contemporary art with 10-12 temporary exhibitions each year. Near the monuments, statues of István Báthori, Sebestyé Tinódi Lantos, Zoltán Kodály, Ferenc Liszt and Gábor Bethlen welcome visitors.

From April 1st to September 30th:
except Mondays
every day from 10 am to 10 pm

From October 1st to March 31st:
Saturdays and Sundays excepted
From 8am to 4pm
We also welcome groups with prior notice on weekends!
