In 1281 Almas; in 1300 Almus; in 1416 Almos; in 1461 it is mentioned as &Almod. In the 15th century, the provost Zsigmond Chyre built a brick church in the pointed style, on which the Reformed church was later built. The building and churchyard are surrounded by a thick stone wall, which still stands today. It gained national fame due to the memorable battle of Bocskai with the Battle of Álmosd – Diószeg in 1604. It shows the typical image of a right-wing village in the time of Ferenc Kölcsey. The municipality was located here between 1812 and 15. The municipality is an agricultural settlement; The population is 1832. On October 15, 1996, the Battle of Bocskai Memorial, a work of sculptor Lajos Győrfi, was inaugurated within the municipality.
